Apple Releases New Mac Mini

The Apple mac mini gets a new unibody aluminum casing, plus HDMI port and SD card slot.

There are two options available, with the main differences being the Snow Leopard Server, a bumped-up processor and RAM, as well as storage capacity.

The Mac mini, for a suggested retail price of $699 (US), includes:

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB of shared L2 cache;
2GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM, expandable up to 8GB;
a slot-load 8X SuperDrive® (DVD+/-R DL/DVD+/-RW/CD-RW) optical drive;
320GB Serial ATA hard drive running at 5400 rpm;
NVIDIA GeForce 320M integrated graphics;
AirPort Extreme® 802.11n wireless networking and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR;
Gigabit Ethernet;
four USB 2.0 ports;
SD card slot;
one FireWire® 800 port;
one HDMI port and one Mini DisplayPort;

Around 200 million domain names registered around the world

The World Wide Web grew by 1 million domain names in the first quarter of 2010, according to the “Domain Name Industry Brief” report out this week from Verisign.

The report finds the number of registered domain names ended the first quarter of 2010 with a base of more than 193 million domain name registrations, an increase of 11 million domain name registrations, or 6 percent, compared to the first quarter of 2009.

Domains are segmented into two parts: the top-level domains (TLDs), including the generic top-level domains (gTLDs), such as the prominent domains com, net and org, or the country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) such as in for india or us for unites states.

As of October 2009, there were 21 generic top level domains and 250 tow letter country top level domains on the internet.

The overall base of .com and .net domain names grew to 99.3 million domain names in the first quarter of 2010. This represents a 2.7 percent increase over the fourth quarter and a 7 percent increase over the same quarter in 2009. New .com and .net registrations were added at an average of approximately 2.7 million per month in the first quarter of 2010 for a total of 8.1 million new registrations in the quarter. The renewal rate for the first quarter of 2010 was 72 percent, an increase from the fourth quarter of 2009, which was 71.2 percent.

Nokia introduced Nokia X5 and the Nokia X6 8GB.

Nokia today introduced two new mobile phones in entertainment-oriented Xseries, Nokia X5-01 and the Nokia X6 8GB.Nokia X6 8GB is a baby brother to the original Nokia X6 device which comes with 32GB storage, while Nokia X5-01 fills the gap between the Nokia X3 and Nokia X6 mobile phones.

The Nokia X5 features excellent sound quality, dedicated music keys, loud speakers and it Comes with Music in some regions and has access to Ovi Music. Nokia X6 8GB is expected to launch during Q3 2010, and will sell at an estimated price of EUR 225 before taxes and subsidies.
