Around 200 million domain names registered around the world
The World Wide Web grew by 1 million domain names in the first quarter of 2010, according to the “Domain Name Industry Brief” report out this week from Verisign.
The report finds the number of registered domain names ended the first quarter of 2010 with a base of more than 193 million domain name registrations, an increase of 11 million domain name registrations, or 6 percent, compared to the first quarter of 2009.
A domain name is the part of a web address that comes after the www. The domain name of this site is amolkale.com
Domains are segmented into two parts: the top-level domains (TLDs), including the generic top-level domains (gTLDs), such as the prominent domains com, net and org, or the country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) such as in for india or us for unites states.
As of October 2009, there were 21 generic top level domains and 250 tow letter country top level domains on the internet.
The overall base of .com and .net domain names grew to 99.3 million domain names in the first quarter of 2010. This represents a 2.7 percent increase over the fourth quarter and a 7 percent increase over the same quarter in 2009. New .com and .net registrations were added at an average of approximately 2.7 million per month in the first quarter of 2010 for a total of 8.1 million new registrations in the quarter. The renewal rate for the first quarter of 2010 was 72 percent, an increase from the fourth quarter of 2009, which was 71.2 percent.

Lots of speculation is going around on the new iPhone 4g... in HD!! Official features have been revealed at the WWDC conference today.
Verizon Wireless is currently testing a CDMA version of the iPhone 4G and Verizon confirms they are making network changes to bring the iphone to their network. It is expected to ship with a major new iPhone OS update – the iPhone 4.0 firmware. John Gruber of Daring Fireball the other day hinted at a possible 960×640 display, which is higher than the best of the best Android phones like Nexus One and EVO 4G, or even the WinMo based HD2 – which features a 800×400 resolution screen. Some other facts which are making the rounds for the said device are listed as follows.

* A Front-facing camera for video conferencing
* To be released on June 7 at WWDC
* Multitasking for third party apps
* Coming to Verizon and AT&T
Apart from these specs, another important aspect will be the form factor for the new iPhone. Yes, iPhone is still one of the most sexy gadgets to have but come on, the look and feel is now getting old and is need of a change. It’s been three years now that we have had hold almost the same looking device. While the use of plastics was practical in terms of signal strength, but for some, it gave a cheap look and feel in the hand. Looking at the popularity of unibody Aluminum enclosure of MacBook Pro, it will be only wise for Apple now to introduce an aluminum unibody makeover for the next-gen iPhone 4 as well. This will give it a unique look in comparison to its competitors today, just like how different MacBook Pros are in the PC market. Motorola Android Phone with Feature 2-GHz Processor
Motorola and HTC are supposedly the number one leaders in the Android community and on to pof all that Motorola intends to take another leap, by hoping to release a new 2GHz processor, which would be considered as some sort of super phone.
During an event at Chicago, Sanjay Jha – The CEO of Motorola said that if our company manages to come up with this device at the right time, users could have twice as much the processing power and we’d me making tons of money!
Well, just disregard that making money part, I just added it to emphasize the gentility of the situation and of course we know that any company with a 2GHz processor could really mean business. Anyways, with a 2GHz processor, you can expect a new mode of gaming, multitasking, smoother video chat and high quality graphics. And all of this running on the Android OS? Now that’s really awesome.
Most of the latest smartphones are currently running on a 1GHz processor and as much as it breaks my heart to admit, even Evo 4G is from the 1GHz category. However, the maximum any company has ever been close to developing a 1GHz+ processor, is Qualcomm. This company is likely to go beyond the 1Ghz landmark, through the release of a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor, which would be settling somewhere at 1.2 to 1.5 GHz.

HTC DOPOD U1000
The HTC DOPOD U1000 is the next generation communication device with the capabilities of Windows Mobile mini tablet. The device supports 3.5G connectivity with HSDPA and Wi-Fi support. It also features a quad band communication onboard that makes it interestingly a phone too.
Design and Looks
The design of the phone resembles a mini tablet and which is highlighted by the huge 5 inch screen on the device. The display is capable of 640x480 VGA resolution. The device stands at 98x133.5x16.8 millimeters weighing 359 grams. The screen can also display about 192 dpi and gives a great color output.
The keyboard on the phone is magnetically connected to the screen and is unique in its form factor. The keyboard features large keys and are equally spaced with their layout. The keys lack the tactile feel though. The keys for some reason are arranged in different order compared to a normal keyboard with 123 on top of 456 and 789 below 456.
This requires time to get used to as the fingers would normally be adjusted to the standard layout. There is support for all special characters and as well as the accented characters. There is no backlight onthe keyboard but to some extent the 5 inch screen display’s brightness is enough to light out the keyboard area.
The dimension of the keyboard stands out 4mm to 16 inches making it difficult to carry out around. With its functionality to detach it from the screen makes a great feature to leavethe keyboard behind and use the screen just as a tablet.
The phone feature on the DOPOD U1000 is not at all great if you’re looking to use it directly as a phone. It’s a data device first and phone next therefore having a Bluetooth headset is must which eliminates all possibilities of hiccups with the phone functionality on the device. The phone on theDOPOD U1000 is capable of GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA device with 3.5G capabilities making it usable around the world. The camera performs good enough for a mini tablet and gives it a nice add on feature. There is also GPS on board which is a treat to use. The Google Maps as a software is a pleasure to use on the 5 inch screen and gives a wealth of data in-front of the user.
The internet experience is again nicely built with IE6 and Opera onboard. They are able to flash based and other media rich sites without a problem and get easily adjusted with the size.
The music player and the video player are supported by the Windows Media player which is a standard player on the device and can only play default formats. For other formats one can use the TCPMP player which does almost all formats and is able to give more functionality to you rather than the basic Windows player.
